TCP/IPv6: The Next Generation of TCP/IP
Bill Woo, HP and Peter Shell, Insession Technologies
Session Level: Advanced
TCP/IP is one of the most significant technology enablers for the Internet, which has undergone phenomenal growth over the last few years. Today, the limits of the Internet are already felt, mostly by corporate users. The current version of the Internet Protocol, known as IP version 4 or IPv4 has grown so complex that the accommodation of new functionality the market demands is very difficult or even impossible. Learning from the IPv4 protocol experience, IPv6 eliminates the protocol complexity and improves upon the scalability, security, ease of configuration, and network management capabilities. This session will provide an insight on the TCP/IP plans for the HP NonStop Server products, including Conventional TCP/IP, Parallel Library TCP/IP and the new IPv6-based product. An overview of the transition from IPv4 to IPv6, feature content by release including major features such as Logical Network Partitioning and Constellation IP, and migration strategy will also be presented. Finally, you will also hear about real experience with TCP/IPv6.

Tim Keefauver, HP
Session Level: Intermediate
This presentation will give an overview of the newest production features of NonStop SQL/MX (Release 1.8) and will include topics such as SQL and Java, stored procedures, ODBC, publish/subscribe, and data mining. It will review early adopter status of NonStop SQL/MX Release 2 featuring improved ANSI standard tables, referential integrity, grant/revoke security, and more.
Unleashing the Power of NonStop Servers with Open Middleware
David Schorow, HP
Session Level: Intermediate
As business requirements become more complex, you need more powerful services in support of your critical business applications. Middleware provides those critical services, such as transaction management, load balancing, naming, data replication, data transformation, and many other services. Without middleware, your application would have to provide these services, which take significant resources and time. This session will provide a comprehensive view of various middleware products, middleware trends, and how they can best benefit your enterprise.
Architecting Enterprise Applications Using Modern Technolgies
Bill Woo, HP
Session Level: Intermediate
Large scale enterprise applications must be architected for scalability, availability, data integrity, performance, and security. New technologies such as J2EE, CORBA, publish and subscribe, Web services, and more are available and offer architectural choices not feasible before. This session will explore alternative technologies and roadmaps, architectural choices, and their benefits for new generation of enterprise applications.

Real-Time Integration: Lessons Learned Along the Deployment Trail of HP Supply Chain Integration
Chris Rooke, HP
Session Level: Intermediate
HP, like every large manufacturer, has many disparate systems and applications in its supply chain management environment. To surmount these challenges, HP has leveraged its own zero latency enterprise (ZLE) architecture to provide a more complete view, more efficient integration of order processing, and significantly lower management costs for its internal supply chain. This session will explore the architecture and technical requirements of a real-time environment and demonstrate how lessons learned enable businesses to respond intelligently to events throughout the supply chain-the instant the event occurs.

Telstra
Telstra's Experiences of Development in an OSS World
Paul McMahon
Telstra has been a Tandem/NonStop user since 1985. While not the world's largest NonStop shop, Telstra has done quite a bit of development work on the platform over the years and currently has several important homegrown applications running for both internal and external consumption. Increasingly over the last four to five years and exclusively since 2000 Telstra has concentrated its NSK development and operations in the Open System Services (OSS) and associated environment. This presentation will briefly cover some of the history of Telstra's involvement with NonStop and why they chose to move to OSS. It will also take a look at Telstra's experiences with OSS, highlight a number of lessons learned, and explain why they would never go back. The presenter Paul McMahon has been involved with NonStop at Telstra since Tandem was first introduced to the company. Over the years he has led and been a member of various NSK and other development teams and currently heads the Commerce group within IT services. He is responsible, amongst other things, for the technology side of Telstra's NSK systems.

Improving Information Access
Ronald Thompson
Improving information access means many things. Fundamentally it is about providing a better user experience with the system and their applications, extending system availability across the enterprise to anybody who may need access to its data or programs, simplifying the systems environment, moving to a connectivity standard for the organization for access to all systems, and having a suite of connectivity solutions rich in flexibility to enable systems personnel to better manage change and evolve information services.
This session provides many insights on how you can achieve these important objectives.

Managing Complex Real Time Environments (RTE/ZLE)
Tarik Husain
In a fully functional real time environment, your business can react and change, sometimes instantly, to customer trends and demands. Careful management of this environment is essential to maintain business continuity. A business user could change a 'rule' that adversely affects application availability, or the business demands a new channel implemented, within days, which increases system workload. Implementing the correct monitoring, measuring and management tool, which has to operate in real time, is critical to the success of your RTE/ZLE environment.
ComForte
Secure NonStop Access
Dr. Michael Rossbach
"Security" has become a hot topic nowadays and right now the buzzword focus seems to be on encrypting the Telnet sessions. While this certainly makes sense, your view on security should be broader. The presentation will look at SSL Security for other protocols (RSC, FTP, ODBC...) and will also cover other important security concepts which go beyond encryption.

Revolutionizing Data Storage: TSI Virtual Tape Solution
Michael Woodbury
TSI Virtual Tape Solution appears as one or more NonStop tape drives/tape library devices to the NonStop system by emulating the drives/libraries in software. The volumes written by the host may in fact be written on a disk, used either as a cache for staging data that will later be transferred to tape, a disk for permanent storage, or a physical tape not otherwise supported by the host. TSI Virtual Tape Solution allows: NonStop servers to share non-proprietary off-the-shelf drives and libraries that no longer need to be direct connected; volume stacking of TMF dumps and backups to disk cache and tape, thereby reducing physical tape usage by up to 90%; NonStop data to be sent over a data network utilizing Fibre Channel; and seamless integration into the NonStop environment by utilizing TMF, BACKUP/RESTORE, DSMTC and backup scripts currently in use.
